Ripped off is the only way to describe my service experience with Bill and Sons Towing. I contracted Bill and Sons Towing about lifting and transporting a shipping container from Pickering to Ajax, Ontario. Approx. 15 miles. I had advised the 40' container was loaded with household furniture, and the weight of the contents was estimated at approx. 10,000-11,000 lb. And the container itself stamped weight was 7,900 lb. Empty, for a total weight of less than 20,000 lb. The dispatcher, Tanya conferred with her manager, and advised that wouldn't be a problem, as their flatbed Landoll truck alone could drag a 30,000lb container on to the bed of the truck without the use of a crane. I paid extra for the crane, in order to minimize damage to the lawn the container was placed on. She advised the lift and re-locate would be $2,100 cash and since I was paying cash, they would not charge hst.
