Not sure if it still the women center but when it first started up. I was given the privilege of being on the committee. I attended every day for 6 months and was given the respect and understanding by every woman on staff. we had all the space and art supples to compleat every art project with different teachers that use use different art medums. I learned so much and was finally allowing myself to express my art without feeling i would be laughed at like my family did. not hurt me but because they didnt understand art . the first few months all of us got along interacting and helping each other. they even used one of my painting for the cover of the Adelaid pamflet . and every week after compleating my project the teachof the day would ask if they could have it. which made me feel very happy that my art was understood. Lunch was always very good until (and i dont mean in a bad tone) the angury homless people started coming and the tenstion was getting thicker and thick with arguments and hitting started. So i moved on. I was considered a sucess story. Because of the centre i was able to get the personal help and understanding to guide me to pull up my socks and go forward without feeling like i would be judged for becoming homeless. the center conected me to other services which conected me to more help till i was able to stand on my own. I have had 3 small buisness since then traveled alot and now at 70 I get to reflect of all the good people and forget the sad ones that didnt want help. i would like to come down to see the place again. Moblie scooter and my two dogs will take that trip soon. now that i fee i have reconnected. I hope that your company has continued to do what was started. A community that cares and helps and not just for profits. by the way there was a book written about the Center, My photo is in it but at the time I felt shame to put my name. big mistake. never feel share for being human..... Please excuse the spelling. Also I have a joke one of many that I want to share. Its not meant to insult but yet aprpo. What. do you never gift a homeless person?.....House Sleepers....thx
